The Digestive Health Supplement We Can't Live Without
A common problem we see in the shop is recurring stomach and digestion woes. Tired of crunching chalky antacid tablets or swigging thick minty syrups, people visit the shop in search of a more natural alternative.
Our most popular remedy is the Bio-Kult range, a line of live bacteria supplements safe for the entire family. Bio-Kult contains live bacteria strains derived from milk and soya, combined with cellulose and encased in a vegetable capsule. It is gluten free, vegetarian, and doesn’t need to be refrigerated, making it ideal for travel.
For regular daily use, 1-2 capsules once or twice a day with food is recommended. The capsules can be swallowed whole or pulled apart and sprinkled on food or mixed with a drink.
Antibiotics often have the side effect of stomach upset. Bio-Kult can relieve many of the symptoms associated with antibiotics – take four capsules daily, separately from the antibiotics, continuing for two weeks after the completion of the medication. Members of the Apothecary 27 team can vouch for the effectiveness of Bio-Kult for this.
Avoid “travellers’ tummy” by starting a regular regime of Bio-Kult two weeks before your trip, and take four capsules daily during travel. Continue taking the Bio-Kult two weeks after your return from your travels and your digestive system will thank you for the wonderful holiday!
Children under 12 can take half an adult dose of Bio-Kult. We also stock Bio-Kult Infantis, an advanced multi-strain formula with Omega-3 and Vitamin D3. Designed for infants, toddlers and young children, this supplement has proved very popular at Apothecary 27, especially for young children taking antibiotics. A quarter sachet for infants, and half to one full sachet per day for young children can be mixed with milk, water or food. Bio-Kult Infantis contains seven strains of live bacteria, soya, milk and fish. Note that the milk content is a level that would not affect lactose intolerance.
